Title:

Mapping MSOE Network Drives

Summary:

Network drives are storage devices that allow for users to store files on a server and potentially share with other users that have access to the drive.

Solution:

NOTE: For access to network drives off-campus, usage of the GlobalProtect VPN is required. Additional solutions exist on how to install and use GlobalProtect.

Press the Start button, type This PC and press the Enter key. In the window that opens, open the Computer tab at the top and click on the Map Network Drive button. There are multiple different drives that MSOE provides, and mapping them each involve a slightly different process. All users have access to the O: and M: drives, but only staff and faculty have access to the H: drive.

For the Department O: Drive:

For Drive, select the O: option. For Folder, type in \\ad.msoe.edu\Department (\\AD\Department). Ensure that Reconnect at Sign-In is selected. If the drive is being mapped on an MSOE laptop, then Connect Using Different Credentials can remain unselected; if the drive is being mapped on a non-MSOE laptop, then it needs to be selected. Click the Finish button. If the drive is being mappen on a non-MSOE laptop, then when prompted log in with AD\[MSOE username] and the password associated with that account.

For the MSOE M: Drive:

For Drive, select the M: option. For Folder, type in \\ad.msoe.edu\MSOE (\\AD\MSOE).

For the Home H: Drive: (Not currently supported, all that have it are the last to have it)

For Drive, select the H: option. For Folder, type in \\ad.msoe.edu\homedrives$\[MSOE username].
