Installing and Using the GlobalProtect Windows 64-bit VPN Agent for Windows
In order to use certain MSOE resources, a connection to the network is required. Normally, this would require being on-campus, but access to these resources is possible off-campus by the use of our VPN, GlobalProtect.
There are two methods for acquiring the new client software, depending on if it is being downloaded on- or off-campus. On campus, the client is available from Software Center. On an MSOE laptop, open the Start menu, type Software Center and press the Enter key. In the window that opens, on the top right search for GlobalProtect (one word), click on the icon that appears and click on the Install button.
Off campus, the client is available from https://vpn.msoe.edu/. The site prompt for a login. Please type in your MSOE username and password to get access to the VPN software download page. There will be links to download the installer GlobalProtect agent for Microsoft Windows 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems, as well as a version for Apple Macintosh computers. Most users will want the link for 64-bit Microsoft Windows computers.
Upon downloading the new client installer, run the installer program (usually called GlobalProtect64.msi) and select the default install options. The installer may ask you if you're sure that you want to allow it to make changes to your computer. If it does, please answer "Yes".
Once the new client is installed it should automatically launch.
A window will open asking for your portal address. Please type in vpn.msoe.edu, and then click on Connect.
GlobalProtect will then ask you to sign in with your login credentials. Please use your regular MSOE username and password. You will receive an MFA prompt if you are staff or faculty.
