Downtime Notice – MSOE IT has the following planned maintenance schedule. During this time, the following network resources or applications may be unavailable during the listed times. Please make note of this schedule and plan around it. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Thursday December 30th – Network Upgrades Krueger Hall
Time: 7am - 10am
Impact: We expect brief network outages for those in Krueger Hall during this time. This will impact phones and access to Internet as well.
Monday December 27th, and Tuesday December 28th – Network Upgrades
Upgrades to network firewall on 27th, and upgrades to DNS on 28th to improve security and reliability.
Time: Entire day
Impact:
On 27th we expect brief Internet outages for those on-campus and the inability to access on-campus resources from off-campus for brief and sporadic periods of time. GlobalProtect VPN connections will be either disconnected or unavailable for periods of time.
On 28th we expect brief outages of all network resources when on-campus. Off-campus accesses to resources with .msoe.edu domain may be impacted for several hours.
Week of December 20th -23rd – Application Updates to Remediate Log4j Vulnerability
Log4j Shell is a security vulnerability which impacts a broad set of applications and exploits of the vulnerability are serious. Many applications have already been updated, and over the course of break week, additional updates are being applied.
Impact: We expect only brief outages, or outages during times of low usage, for the following applications: Harley Computing Lab, campus wifi, various lab's wifi, Follow You Printing, software that contacts license servers, etc. If you notice any problems with these applications, please contact Helpdesk.
Tuesday, December 7th – Amazon Hosting Outage Impacting Canvas
Amazon/AWS is experiencing service interruptions that are causing some issues with MSOE applications, most notably Canvas. AWS Status Page: https://status.aws.amazon.com/
Start Time: 11:30am 12/7/2021
End Time: by 4:30am 12/8/2021 Amazon reports issues resolved.
Impact: We have been receiving reports that this is impacting Canvas. Many various services across the Internet use Amazon services, so others may be impacted as well.
