FAQ
Who is required to enroll?
All students, faculty, and staff will be required to enroll in the new sign-on system. Everyone with an MSOE account.
What if I already have the Microsoft Authenticator app?
Yes, you still need to enroll in the new sign-on system. We still use the same Authenticator app, but re-enrolling the app is required.
Who is required to use multifactor authentication?
Faculty and staff are protected with multifactor
authentication. Students do NOT get
prompted for multifactor authentication.
The term “multifactor authentication” is an approach to improve security where logging in requires both your password and indicating approval from a device such as your phone.
Should students setup the Microsoft Authenticator App used
by faculty and staff?
Yes, we recommend using Microsoft Authenticator. Even though students are not prompted for
multifactor, the Microsoft Authenticator app can be used for password recovery. Also, the app will be setup for future multifactor implementation. If you are
unable to use the app, other options can be selected during the enrollment
process.
What about Alumni accounts?
No, alumni accounts do NOT use https://myaccount.msoe.edu. If you have an alumni account and use it to login to Google services, the process hasn't changed.
Both scheduled and emergency downtime announcements can always be accessed here: Announcements.
No MSOE employee nor any MSOE correspondence will ever ask for your account password.
